Jasper County Busted Mugshots
A mugshot is taken at booking, after an arrest. The paperwork from that moment can list a name, the charge as written, bond details, and custody dates. In Jasper County, the Sheriff's Office and Jail handle most of it. That holds true even when the arrest began with the Newton Police Department or another agency. The jail sits at 106 E. Morgan Street in Newton.
Two public documents form the paper trail here. One is the Jail Report. It is a current-custody list with a name, charge, and bond, but not a dated roster of everyone arrested that day. The public version shows no photo either. The monthly Arrest Reports add more detail, such as the approximate arrest time, age, hometown, location, and what led to the stop.
Start with the county's Sheriff's Office and Jail directory. It links the jail, the reports, court tools, and other public-safety services in one place. Unofficial sites can be stale or wrong about a person's actual custody status. The official path is safer. Treat the directory below as a source map, not a photo gallery.
The directory shows where the jail and Sheriff records sit within the county system. It does not add fields to the Jail Report, which remains limited to a few data points per person.
Jasper Booking Record Fields
No online interface in the county shows a full booking form. The table separates what appears online from what must be requested or checked elsewhere. That line matters. A roster entry is not the whole record, and treating it as one leads to wrong conclusions.
| Field | What Jasper's public sources show |
|---|---|
| Name | Visible on the Jail Report and in monthly arrest reports. Use the official spelling. |
| Charge or reason | Shown in the Jail Report charge line and in monthly reports. It is an charge that can change. |
| Bond | Shown in the Jail Report, including “No Bond” where listed. No full bond schedule was published in the inspected interface. |
| Arrest date and time | Monthly reports give an exact or approximate time. The current roster does not show a booking date field. |
| Location and context | Monthly reports may describe a traffic stop, warrant service, investigation, call response, and location. |
| Age and hometown | These appear in monthly reports, but they are not a complete booking biography. |
| Agency | The monthly report identifies the sheriff or context. A Newton police record may be held by the city. |
| Booking number and date | Not visible on the current Jail Report. Ask the jail records custodian if needed to identify a file. |
| Photograph | No photo was displayed on the inspected Jail Report or monthly report pages. Illinois law uses “when and if available.” |
| Facility | The Sheriff and Jail pages identify Jasper County Jail at 106 E. Morgan Street. Entries do not show a facility column. |
| Court date or case number | Not shown on the Jail Report. Use Judici or the Circuit Clerk for court information. |
| Disposition | Not shown on the roster or arrest report. A disposition belongs to the court record. |
Can a roster name tell you what happened in court? No. It shows only that the name appears in a current public custody view. Whether a case was filed, whether conditions changed, and how it ended all live in the court record, not the booking line.
Request a Jasper Booking Photo
The public Jail Report shows no booking photo. The practical route is a written FOIA request to the Sheriff's Office or Jail records custodian. The county's FOIA procedure requires requests to be written and specific. The County FOIA form sends written requests to the Jasper County Clerk FOIA Officer at 204 W. Washington Street, Suite 2, Newton, IL 62448, or to statesattorney@jaspercounty.illinois.gov. Name the Sheriff or Jail as the department holding the record. Ask the county to forward the request if needed.
A good request identifies the person, the approximate arrest date, and the arresting agency if known. List each record separately. That means the booking record, booking number and time, charge lines as recorded, bond or release information, custody movement data, and any booking photograph. Ask for an electronic copy. If something is withheld or redacted, request the statutory basis and any portion that can be released.
- Use the county form or a written request that contains the same specific details.
- Send it through the county's posted mail, email, delivery, or drop-box route, naming the Sheriff/Jail custodian.
- Keep the request and response dates. Illinois FOIA generally allows five business days to comply or deny, with a possible five-business-day extension for listed reasons.
- Ask for the actual-copy or electronic-copy fee before paying. The county has not published a sheriff-specific photo fee.
- If denied, request the exact exemption, ask whether a narrower request would work, and use the Public Access Bureau appeal route described on the county form when appropriate.

Fee and release outcome depend on the record and law.
The county's FOIA page is shown here as a request-route reference. It does not confirm that any particular photo exists.
A request can ask whether a record is active, archived, transferred, or disposed of under an approved schedule. A third-party page is not proof the county still holds the image.
Illinois Mugshot and Record Law
Illinois law does not turn the Jasper Jail Report into a photo gallery. Under 5 ILCS 140/2.15, arrest information released under the statute can include identifying details, a photograph when available, charges, time and place, the arresting agency, and custody movement. The section also sets a 72-hour outer framework for information supplied to news media. None of that guarantees a photo on the county website or an identical record for every requester.
The same statute protects juvenile confidentiality. It also restricts some law-enforcement social-media posting of booking photos for lower-level offenses, with listed public-safety exceptions. It is neither a ban on requests nor proof the jail never photographs anyone. When a denial or redaction comes back, ask the custodian to cite the legal reason.
A Jail Report line, monthly arrest report, charge, bond, or booking photo captures an early custody event. Check the court disposition before drawing a conclusion about the case.
Illinois has a specific statute aimed at the mugshot-removal business. Under 815 ILCS 505/2QQQ, a publisher cannot solicit or accept money to remove, correct, or change covered criminal-record information, which includes arrest descriptions, dispositions, and booking photographs. There is a documented correction path for genuine errors. What the law does not do is wipe out a truthful official record or compel every independent page to vanish. Corrections work through defined channels, not cash.
Expungement or sealing is the route when a court record qualifies. Start with 20 ILCS 2630/5.2 and the Illinois Courts expungement and sealing forms. Outcomes vary: a dismissal, an acquittal, a release without charges, supervision, and a conviction each carry their own rules and waiting periods. Once an order issues, deliver the accepted paperwork to the relevant custodian and use a publisher's free correction channel where one exists. The Crime News page lists the free listing and correction policies several third-party sites have published. Never pay someone just for a promised result.
For context, the statute appears below. The image documents the law itself, not any person.
Plenty of material never becomes public at all. Juvenile files, sealed or expunged records, victim-identifying details, medical information, and investigative or security data can all be withheld or redacted. So a name missing from a lookup tells you nothing about why it is missing.
Find Jasper County Busted Mugshots
Two things drive the right lookup path: custody status and date. Try the county sources first. Court, state, and federal records come later, and only if the facts point that way. Someone booked minutes ago may still show in the current custody view. A person released earlier might not. That name could appear only in a monthly report or surface through a records request instead.
- Open the Jasper County Jail Report. Read the name, charge, and bond, and note the date you checked it. It has no public search form or dated booking field.
- Check the monthly Arrest Reports archive for the suspected month. Compare the arrest time, town, location, and event context instead of treating a charge as an outcome.
- If the person may have reached state custody after sentencing, use the Illinois Department of Corrections search. IDOC is not the route for a current county booking or a person released from Jasper County Jail.
- Use Judici and the court-contact route for a case number, docket, or disposition. A court result does not confirm current jail custody.
- Submit a specific written FOIA request for the booking record and any photo when the online pages do not answer the question.
A Newton incident can generate two different files: one city police record and one county booking record. For Ste. Marie and Willow Hill, no verified municipal booking feed exists in the current source set, so the county sheriff is the practical starting point. The city pages spell out these distinctions.
Where Jasper Busted Mugshots Appear
Start with official sources. The table maps each channel to the record it can actually answer. It also notes whether a public photo surfaced. A third-party index has its uses. It can help track down an old reference. But it cannot tell you who is in custody today. It cannot say how a case resolved in court either.
| Channel | Photo and custody scope | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Jail Report | Official, current county custody. No public photo in the inspected page. | Check name, charge, and bond; label the result “currently shown.” |
| Monthly Arrest Reports | Official, dated arrest chronology. Text-only in the inspected reports. | Open the month and compare date, time, town, location, and context. |
| FOIA request | Official request route for a booking record or photo held by the custodian. | Use a specific person/date request and ask for the legal basis of any denial. |
| Judici and Circuit Clerk | Official court case and disposition path. Not a custody roster or photo source. | Search the docket and confirm uncertain results with the clerk. |
| IDOC search | Official state custody or parole. The inspected public profile had no photo. | Search last name, IDOC number, or birthdate after a state transfer. |
| Daily News | Independent local reporting about the 2026 sheriff website transition, not a recurring mugshot feed. | Use it for source context, then verify with the county. |
| Mugshots.com | Unofficial county-wide index that may be historical or stale; no city filter was verified. | Do not treat its displayed count or entries as current arrests. |
| Other aggregators | Busted Newspaper, RecentlyBooked, Arrests.org, and Mugshots.zone had no verified Jasper, Illinois local page in the research sweep. | Do not invent a county URL or use a different state's Jasper page. |
The Mugshots.com Jasper County page looks like a historical county index. It carries no sheriff timestamp. It holds no official standing in Jasper County. For RecentlyBooked, Busted Newspaper, Arrests.org, and Mugshots.zone, the Crime News coverage check found no verified Jasper local section on any of them.
Busted Jasper Jail Roster
The official Jasper County Jail Report is a plain public list, not a searchable inmate-management system. Each entry carries just three fields: name, "Charge," and "Bond." There is no search box, no photo, no booking number, no booking date, no court date, no release time, no facility label per entry, and no refresh timestamp or published retention rule.
That spare format is one of Jasper's real data quirks. Generic jail directories sometimes advertise standard fields that simply do not exist on the county page. No booking photos appear on the current roster, though that alone does not mean photographs are never taken or never obtainable from the custodian. Anyone seeking one should go through the county FOIA process.
| Roster question | Answer from the inspected Jasper interface |
|---|---|
| What can be searched? | No public search form was visible. A browser's page search may help with a name. |
| What window does it cover? | Current public custody, not a stated 24-hour or 48-hour booking window. |
| How often does it refresh? | The page publishes no refresh timestamp or cadence. |
| How long does an entry stay? | No online persistence or release-retention period is stated. |
| Does it show photos? | No photo was shown in the inspected current page. Request one separately. |
Use the roster in three careful steps:
- Open the official report from the county Jail page.
- Record the name, charge, bond, and access date without calling the entry a same-day arrest.
- If the person is absent, check the monthly report and request the booking file rather than assuming release, no arrest, or deletion.
The current roster view documented by this source capture shows no public gallery of inmate photos.
The missing booking date and photo describe only the public interface. The county's internal booking system may well hold additional fields that the page never displays.
Who Got Busted in Jasper County?
Jasper County publishes no official page labeled "new bookings," "last 24 hours," or "last 48 hours." The Jail Report is the nearest live source. It has limits, though. It can list someone booked days ago who is still held, and it can miss a person released before the page was checked. No booking timestamp appears. There is no today filter.
For multi-day and dated coverage, use the monthly Arrest Reports archive. Posts group by calendar month. They usually run after the month they cover. An entry can carry the arrest date and approximate time, name, age, and hometown. Charges or reason may appear, plus location and context like a traffic stop, an investigation, a warrant service, or a call response. No booking photos appear there.
No public persistence promise exists for the county. A missing name in a month does not prove no arrest happened. The agency, date, protected status, or publication path may simply differ. For a same-day question, pair the current roster with a dated note. Reserve calls to the jail or non-emergency line for process guidance. A phone conversation is no substitute for a written records request.
Timing check: Jasper splits current custody from arrest chronology, with no public photo on the current roster and monthly reports that can post well after the arrest.
Jasper Custody Alerts
Jasper's alert links trip people up, so sort them out first. The county's E-911 page points to Hyper-Reach, which sends weather warnings, reverse-911 calls, and community notices. That is not a jail roster. No names, no charges, no booking photos. Offender Watch is a sex-offender registry link, and Illinois Judici handles court records. None of these will show you who got booked today.
Illinois VINE sits on a separate track entirely. Through the Attorney General's VINE information, a registered user can get custody and case-status alerts by VINElink, phone, text, email, or the VINE app. It helps someone track a particular case, but it is not a public photo archive and cannot replace the Jail Report or a FOIA request.
One wrinkle: a June 2026 Jasper County Daily News story mentioned Code Red during the sheriff website transition, while the county page now links Hyper-Reach. Trust the live county link. Alerts notify. They do not supply a full arrest history or confirm current custody.
IDOC Offender Photos
Once a person finishes a state-court sentence and transfers out of county custody, records move to the Illinois Department of Corrections. Start with the IDOC Individual in Custody Search. Its public form takes a last name, an IDOC number, or a birthdate. The legacy version shows IDOC numbers as a letter followed by digits.
A profile there can list the number, name, parent institution, status, and current location. Physical descriptors may appear too, along with admission or release dates and sentencing details. No mugshot image appears in the public text interface. Coverage runs to people currently or formerly in state custody or on parole. It skips anyone still waiting on a Jasper County case, anyone released from the Jasper County Jail, and county-only charges.
IDOC keeps its own internal photo systems under standards covering electronic storage and long-term maintenance of negatives. Those internal rules do not make the public search a photo source. Any state-custody photo request goes to IDOC, not the Jasper Sheriff. Treat the state search landing page as a routing reference for custody questions.
Keep the labels separate: county booking, state custody, and parole are different record states.
Busted, Booked, or Released?
A record keeps its value after release, but the source shifts. The county roster is a current display. The arrest report is a dated narrative. The court docket tells what happened later. State and federal locators answer different custody questions.
| Custody state | Best official route | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Currently shown in Jasper custody | Jasper County Jail Report | It does not prove the booking happened today or show a final disposition. |
| Released from county custody | Monthly Arrest Reports, then a specific FOIA request | Leaving the roster does not prove the record was destroyed or the charge was dismissed. |
| Case pending or resolved | Judici and the Jasper County Circuit Clerk | A case index does not confirm current jail custody. |
| Sentenced to Illinois custody | IDOC Individual in Custody Search | IDOC is not a county booking-photo replacement. |
| Federal or immigration custody | BOP, ICE, or the relevant federal case route | An absent locator result does not prove that no arrest occurred. |
For federal custody, the Most Wanted Fugitives federal-custody notes separate the Bureau of Prisons and ICE locators from county records. No Jasper page documents an ICE contract or a local immigration-photo system. A county arrest report cannot establish immigration status.
After the Bust in Jasper
Booking is where the timeline begins. From there, a case can move through a first appearance, bond conditions, a charging decision, discovery, hearings, and a final result. "Bond" means the release condition a court sets, as shown in a jail record. "Disposition" is the later court outcome. That might be dismissal, acquittal, supervision, or conviction. The Jail Report has no field for court dates or dispositions.
Need to follow a case? Two tools help. Use the Jasper County Circuit Clerk contact and Jasper Judici. Start with the full name. Check spelling and initials, then compare the county and date. Read the docket entry itself rather than repeating the original charge. The clerk's office sits at 100 W. Jourdan Street in Newton. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The phone number is (618) 783-2524.
Disposition matters: a news story, a monthly arrest report, a roster line, and a bond amount each tell you something happened, not what a court decided. Even a matching court record is just a name match, so confirm identity and read the actual docket.
The Judici landing page is a court source, not a mugshot page.
Someone released on bond may still have the case open, and a person can stay in custody on a separate matter. Keep the dates on each source straight so the record you cite matches the moment you care about.
Older Jasper Jail Records
How long does Jasper keep booking photos? The Sheriff site never says. Neither does the Jail Report. The monthly arrest archive, the FOIA page, and jail inspection material are silent too. Illinois records rules require an approved schedule before local public records are destroyed, and photographs can count as public records. So ask the Sheriff or Jail custodian directly. Request the applicable record series, the retention period, the last disposal date, and whether any file was transferred.
History offers one concrete lead. The State Archives' IRAD listing names Office of Sheriff, "Jail Registers," accession 5/0130/01, covering 1873 through 1988, held at Eastern Illinois University on one microfilm reel. Those registers prove nothing about modern digital photos. For anything after 1988, file a specific county FOIA request. Ask whether the booking sheet or image is active, archived, transferred, or lawfully disposed of.
The IRAD county listing is a research lead, not a searchable historic mugshot gallery. Contact the depository first. Ask about scope, reel or scan access, and copying rules before sending a name-only request.
Jasper City Busted Mugshots
The city pages keep agency boundaries in view. The 2020 Census comparison used by the county map carries an April 1, 2020 date. A city name in a monthly report can mislead. It may mark a hometown or an incident location, not the arresting agency. City arrestees routed to Jasper County Jail fall under the county custody and records system.
- Newton Busted Mugshots, the county seat, had a 2020 population of 2,777. Newton Police has its own contact page but no verified public arrest blotter, so city police records and county jail records must be requested separately.
- Ste. Marie Busted Mugshots covers the 2020 population of 238. No separate police entry or city booking feed was identified in the reviewed public agency list; county routing is the practical starting point.
- Willow Hill Busted Mugshots covers the 2020 population of 172. A town or location in a county report does not create a Willow Hill-specific roster or prove where an arrest occurred.
For a specific Jasper County warrant question, use the separate Most Wanted Fugitives page's official process. For local reporting context, see Crime News. Neither page hosts a photo gallery.
